MLP Vendor Spotlight: Bianca Sansosti of Bianca Sansosti Artistry

March 10, 2016

One thing that I've learned in my career is the importance of having a strong network of fellow professionals to work and grow with. I cannot make my clients' special day memorable with my own efforts alone! I'm thankful to be acquainted with so many talented individuals from a variety of event-focused industries. I've learned so much from them along the way, and thanks to their expertise, I have been able to provide a great experience for every client that has called on my services.

I want fans of MLP Events to have the opportunity to be acquainted with these wonderful people, too! That's why today I'm introducing a new segment: The MLP Vendor Spotlight. My first star in the spotlight is my friend, makeup artist Bianca Sansosti of Bianca Sansosti Artistry. Bianca has an infectious personality and spirit. Her passion and creativity truly set her apart from other professionals in her field. She always seeks to ensure her clients' beauty experiences are memorable ones. Without further ado, here's Bianca!

How did you begin your career?
I began "playing" with makeup from the time I was seven or eight. I used to sit at my mom's vanity (and my aunt's when I would visit her) and just sit for hours and explore and discover makeup. Even at such a young age I was fascinated by it. Then I started doing it on friends for fun as I got older. My freshman year of college, people started actually asking me to do it wanting to pay me!

How many years have you been in the business?
Seven years.

What is your service area?
Everywhere! I work mainly in the city and suburbs, but am also available for destination appointments. I go wherever my client is!

Do you have any awards/affiliations?
I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree, as well as certification for airbrush makeup. I am also a member of the Powder Group.

What made you choose makeup? Why are you passionate about it?
Having an art background and taking art classes my whole life, I always viewed makeup as another art form and medium, not just a cosmetic. The same principles and theories that you would apply to fine art, for a painting, for example, would be applied to professional makeup application. It's cliche, but makeup chose me. I just always had a natural knack for it, and was in awe of how it can transform your face and body into something completely different.

What would you say is the "Bianca" style of makeup?
The "Bianca style of makeup is polished and sophisticated, with focus on beautiful skin work. My philosophy for my clientele is that makeup should enhance you. You should wear makeup, makeup should never wear you. That can be acheived with any style, from a simple "no makeup" makeup look, to a dramatic look. It's dependent on the desire of the client and the technique and skill of the artist to acheive that, no matter the style.

What tips do you have for brides when selecting a makeup artist?
- Let us guide you through the process, and trust us! This is most likely your first wedding, but probably my 152nd! Let us help you and don't be afraid to ask for advice, opinions, and feedback, especially for things like timelines for your wedding day. No one will know better than us!

- Be open to our suggestions. When you bring us photos of what you like, keep in mind that they are meant to be inspirations for the style. We could use the exact same products and colors, but it won't look exactly the same because you look like YOU, not them! And remember 99% of those photos are edited. Not every look works for every face structure.

- Ask questions and address concerns--don't be afraid to! We need to know what is on your mind and what you are thinking to give you the best experience possible. We aren't mind readers, after all! And, truthfully, you may not always "mesh." Not every artist is for every client, and vice versa.

- Book based on quality, experience/credentials, eduacation, portfolio, and reviews/referrals, not just price. You always get what you pay for, and when you invest in a true professional, you get a level of service that is much more than just showing up for your appointment and leaving! It's a luxury service, and we treat you as such!

Thank you for chatting with me, Bianca! Until next time, everyone!

With Love,
MLP
