A Day of Outdoor Elegance

March 23, 2016

Sometimes you find love where you least expect it. But sometimes you don't find it at all--your friends find it for you! Brittany and Justin were introduced by their best friends back in college and the pair hit it off. A few years passed and their best friends actually ended up tying the knot. Their wedding put things into prospective for Justin, and he knew Brittany was the one he was meant to share his life with. So, naturally, popping the question was the next step. She said yes, thus, the two began their "self-planning" adventure. As the planning process started to wind down, the couple knew they needed just the right person to ensure their outdoor tented black and white wedding would go off with out a hitch!

Just as it was an instant connection when they met, we too had the same connection at our intial meeting. It was obvious that these two had everything together. They just needed a helping hand to properly execute their vision. Justin was not your typical groom and loved assisting with planning to ensure his future wife got everything she wanted for her big day. The couple envisioned a classic Black & White laid back wedding. I'm sure when you think of the words "Classic, Black, and White" like most your mind goes to vintage swanky hotel. Well, my lovely couple went with a beautiful white tent on an amazing outdoor forest preserve.

The Creek Bend Nature Center in Saint Charles, IL served as a great backdrop for the couple's ceremony. Guests were greeted and directed down to the creek where chairs were laid to form the perfect ceremony space. The bridal party came in from the nature center and down to the creek. The bride looked stunning in her white gown with an elegant pop of black with an embellished black sash.

Once the ceremony was compete guests headed up to the home for cocktail hour. The reception took place under a beautiful white tent that sat atop the hill looking down at the creek. The tables were set with beautiful black table linens, each topped with a black and white stripe runner on which the beautiful while floral was displayed. The vases for the flowers alternated between clear and tinted black. They were set up at just the right height to allow guests to see each other and chat about the lovely couple. For dinner the bride and groom opted for a non-traditional meal as they really wanted their guests to enjoy barbecue from their favorite restaurant. I thought the meal choice was a great element they used to showcase the couple's fun, family-oriented personalities.

The day's end provided a beautiful sunset which the couple (and photographer Kimberly Currer) took advantage of to sneak in some intimate shots of just the two of them. Once they returned, guests were treated to cake and the dance floor was open. Not a seat was filled as the DJ played some of the couples favorite hits. This night was one guests will surely not forget!

I am so happy that I was able to share in your beautiful day, Brittany & Justin! I wish you the very best and congrats on your new adventure and home!
