Memorial Day Turned Wedding Day

Darnell and Tameka's engagement story is certainly sweet: It was Memorial day, and the eve of Darnell's birthday. In the privacy of their home he confessed to his beloved that he didn't want to spend another birthday (or any other day, for that matter) without her in his life. With that, he asked her to become his wife.taking them on the hunt to celebrate the love with and unforgettble wedding.

The newly engaged couple decided that the date would fall on the anniversary of their intimate proposal. They knew that they wanted to celebrate their union in a way that emphasized their values of family and fun. From the moment I was called to be their planner, I knew that I was in for a fun planning journey. Both the bride and groom-to-be were enthusiatic clients, and they were more than willing to help set up their milestone event.

Darnell and Tameka wanted their wedding to be memorable, and they certainly got their wish. Everything about this wedding screamed fun! Guests were greeted with love and gifted with "keys" to a happy marriage. Their favorite colors, Sunbeam Yellow and Malibu Turquoise dominated their pallette, with Zen Grey serving as a gentle accent. The combination of colors made their theme all the brighter.

The setting was perfect for exchanging their vows: underneath a marble gazebo, near the pond at the Oddessey Country Club in Tinley Park, Illinois. White chairs and rose petals lined the bride's path to her new husband. Her favorite song swelled in the background as she walked down the aisle.

To showcase the union of their family, the groom took Tameka's daughter in with them as they completed the unity candle ceremony. Friends' and families' faces were streaked with tears as Darnell professed his love for the child, stating that she had always been a daughter to him but he was glad it would now be official.

The wedding ceremony concluded with a kiss between husband and wife and guests were led into the ballroom where fun times awaited.

Accents of turquoise and yellow were splahed across the ballroom, brightening the tables, the chairs and even the cake. The gray made its appearance on the candy favor boxes that guests got to take home.

There was dancing, and even a few games with prizes. This couple truly wanted their guests to have a good time. It was an honor to be a part of such a great day for two amazing clients.

Tameka & Darnell, you are loved and appreciated! Best of wishes to both of you on your new journey!
